SpaGuard pH Decreaser is a granular product that lowers high pH and total alkalinity in spa and hot tub water. When your pH climbs too high, the water turns basic — and that creates its own set of problems: the water gets cloudy, scale starts forming on surfaces and equipment, and your sanitizer becomes noticeably less effective at the very job you’re counting on it for.
pH is one of the most important and most active numbers in spa care. It drifts constantly as bathers come and go, as you add other chemicals, and as the water heats and aerates — and it tends to climb over time. When it rises out of range, pH Decreaser brings it back down to the comfortable target, along with total alkalinity. Getting both back in range protects your spa and equipment from scale, clears up high-pH cloudiness, restores sanitizer performance, and makes the water comfortable again.
Made from sodium bisulfate, it’s the standard, reliable way to correct high pH. It dissolves into the water with the pump running and works with every common sanitizing system.
Pro Tip: High pH quietly wastes your sanitizer. At a pH of 8.0, a large share of your chlorine is chemically inactive — meaning you’re adding sanitizer that can’t fully work. Bringing pH back down to 7.4–7.6 with pH Decreaser is often the cheapest way to make the chlorine you already use more effective.
