Hayward ECX1308 White Schmear Compound
This is a bag of Schmear white pellets that is used with a PVC cleaner to make PVC repairs on equipment like valve ports, cracked gauge threads, and skimmers (freeze ups). It can repair most leaks or breaks in almost any plastic part made of ABS. Cracked ports can easily be fixed using our part #SPX1091Z9 adapter.
Schmear pellets are basically ground up ABS resin or pieces of broken baskets, etc. It is then dissolved in a solvent called M.E.K. This may sometimes be called primer or PVC cleaner. Schmear is similar to PVC solvent cement, which has been used successfully to repair leaking PVC joints, etc. However, Schmear is better suited for repairing broken ABS products.
