Description
The Bellingham Landscape Design, Smaller and More Efficient
The Bellingham 38 isn’t a downsized Bellingham 44 or 52 — it’s actually the most efficient Bellingham in the family. Customers often assume bigger fireplaces are more efficient than smaller ones, but the opposite is true with the Bellingham series. The 38’s smaller firebox has less glass surface area per BTU of heat produced, which means less radiant heat loss out the front. Result: the Bellingham 38 achieves 69.48% NG steady state efficiency compared to 65.01% on the Bellingham 44 and 67.6% on the Bellingham 52.
If you love the Bellingham design language but the larger models’ lower efficiency was giving you pause, the Bellingham 38 is the answer.
The Bellingham 38 carries forward the full Bellingham value proposition:
- Traditional fireplace aesthetic + TV-above-fireplace capability — the landscape design format that bridges the gap between traditional and contemporary fireplaces
- Same 4 refractory options as the larger Bellinghams (Black Glass, Chicago, Ledgestone, Herringbone)
- Standard Top Accent Light Kit and Ember Bed Light Kit — unique-to-Bellingham accent lighting included as standard equipment
- Standard Fan Kit — active air circulation included (same as Bellingham 44, while Bellingham 52 has fan kit as optional)
- Split-flow engineer-designed burner with modulating output (17,000 – 43,500 BTU NG)
- Komfort Kontrol Remote for precision temperature control
- IPI Electronic Ignition with included safety screen front
- ANSI Z21.88 Vented Gas Heater certification
- Direct vent — sealed combustion, no chimney required

Heat Distribution Options
The Bellingham 38 supports the same heat distribution flexibility as the larger Bellinghams:
- Komfort Zone Kit (Part #KZK-038) — natural convection duct system that redirects warm air rising from the firebox to higher up the wall, out the sidewalls, or to an adjacent room. Enables safe TV mounting above and lower mantel clearances.
- Vented Cavity — alternative TV-mounting solution using different ducting routes
- Interior Heat Transfer Kit — redirects heat from the main firebox to an adjacent interior room
- Exterior Heat Transfer Kit — alternative ducting for installations requiring different heat distribution paths
- Horizontal Power Vent — alternative venting that uses an electric fan to assist termination, enabling longer or more flexible vent paths than passive direct venting allows
The standard fan kit on the Bellingham 38 already provides active air circulation, so heat transfer kits are only needed if you specifically want to redistribute heat to other rooms beyond the immediate fireplace room.
